IRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline to July 15 in Response to COVID-19|
back to insights

This morning, the IRS announced that the April 15 tax filing deadline will be extended to July 15. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin first released this news on Twitter stating that “At [President Trump’s] direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.” This change follows a previous announcement that tax payments would be deferred, but until now the filing date had not been extended.
