Professional Overview
Matt has more than nine years of experience in public accounting, focusing on state and local income and franchise taxes, and has served clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, manufacturing and distribution, retail, telecommunication, and real estate. He has extensive experience with strategic tax planning, tax controversy, nexus studies, apportionment studies, elective combined and consolidated return filing analysis, unitary business group analysis, restructuring implementation and documentation, refund reviews, due diligence, ASC 740 documentation, and sales and use tax services. Matt has also assisted clients with applying for voluntary disclosure agreements and mitigating real property transfer tax liabilities arising from corporate restructurings.
Prior to joining Elliott Davis, Matt was a manager in the state and local tax practice at a Big Four firm and was selected to participate in a two-year rotation program with a national tax specialty services group that focused exclusively on restructuring and refund review projects. He also supported the firm’s Washington National Tax practice group by reviewing and revising technical tax updates and alerts.
