Elliott Davis Adds Two to International Services Practice

GREENVILLE, S.C. , Sept. 10, 2012 – Elliott Davis, LLC, one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the Southeast, has deepened its International Services practice by adding two professionals who will provide enhanced service offerings to the firm’s foreign clients with U.S. interests.

Liz Hsu, a manager, and Sophia Qi, a staff associate, will focus on providing services such as tax, assurance and financial reporting, as well as outsourced controller services to the U.S. based subsidiaries of foreign owned companies. Both professionals are multilingual, speaking Chinese Mandarin and English. Hsu, a former manager with Ernst & Young, also speaks Spanish. They join a seasoned International Services team led by Shareholder Kay Biscopink.

“There are many worldwide conglomerates with large operations in the Southeast but also numerous companies with smaller scale operations here,” said Biscopink. “We have assembled a diverse practice with the skills, experience and knowledge to serve these U.S. interests by providing tax, assurance and consulting solutions as well as on-the-ground accounting support.”

Last year, Elliott Davis added international tax specialist Lena Cao and former KPMG partner Eric Schmid to its International Services practice. Schmid’s 20 years of audit experience combined with Biscopink’s 20 years of tax experience anchor a deep, distinctive practice of professionals.

“We continue to make investments in support of the new and growing businesses in our footprint,” said Rick Davis, Elliott Davis’ managing shareholder. “When foreign companies locate here, it benefits the greater community. Our goal is to provide 360 degree financial solutions to these entities, so they can expand and thrive.”

Founded in 1925 in Greenville, S.C., Elliott Davis has been a longtime advocate for the region’s continued economic development. In the past six months, firm leaders have accompanied organizations such as the Upstate Alliance, Central S.C. Alliance and Charlotte Regional Partnership on trips to China, Germany and Brazil to promote foreign investment in the Carolinas.

Recently, Elliott Davis helped Asia-based business advisory firm Dezan Shira & Associates establish a U.S. presence by co-locating employees at Elliott Davis’ Charlotte office. Both firms are members of The Leading Edge Alliance, a worldwide association of independently owned accounting firms. Elliott Davis and Dezan Shira work closely to bring both inbound investment to the Carolinas and outbound U.S. investment to Asia.

“Versatility is important in our business,” said Davis. “We continually pursue ways to bring the best possible value, expertise and innovation to our markets and the clients we serve.”
