Elliott Davis Managing Shareholder Honored as Business Person of the Year

GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 7, 2011 – Rick Davis, firm managing shareholder for Elliott Davis, was honored on Saturday, Nov. 5 as “Business Person of the Year” by Greenville Business Magazine and Clemson at the Falls.

Attended by 180 people, the black tie awards event was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Greenville, where Davis served as keynote speaker.

Davis was chosen as “Business Person of the Year” by a selection panel who judged nominees on criteria that included exceptional leadership; strategic thinking; unceasing pursuit of excellence; and balanced workplace values. Significant community/civic participation within the Greenville community was also considered.

For four years, Davis has been the managing shareholder of Elliott Davis, one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the Southeast. Having spent his 27-year career at the Greenville headquartered firm, he has deep roots in the Upstate community.

Under Davis’ leadership, Elliott Davis has expanded into new markets; experienced record revenue growth; and become a known advocate for economic development in the Upstate community through efforts such as “Drive Business Downtown,” a day during which all Downtown Greenville businesses came together to spotlight and promote the prosperity of the Upstate.

Davis is also a dedicated community leader, serving on boards of directors for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Upstate Alliance, Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation, Greenville County Museum of Art, and Clemson University’s College of Business and Behavioral Sciences Advisory.
