Deadline Approaching for Renewable Energy Grant Program

Did you know that the renewable energy grant program introduced by Section 1603 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is set to expire at the end of the year?

Companies interested in taking advantage of this program need to act quickly in order to comply with the safe harbor rules that were explained in updated guidance released by the Department of Treasury earlier this year. These grants are particularly valuable because they may reimburse applicants for costs already incurred on qualifying projects. The main benefit is that taxpayers that are awarded grants will be able to undertake projects that may otherwise not be economically viable due to the limited external financing available.
